G-Star 2018

Well done to Amy at this year’s G-Star competition held in Leeds.  Amy competed in girls group D and achieved 3 top 10 results.  In the group D 1m final Amy achieved 5th place, in the 3m final she achieved 3rd placed and brought home Bronze for the club, in the platform finals she achieved 5th place.

Some superb results that got Amy coverage in the local Evening Telegraph:

“Amy has become the first competitor to win an age group medal for Corby Steel Diving Club.  The nine-year old one Bronze in the girls 9/11 yrs group in the 3m springboard event at the G-Star Diving Championships in Leeds.  She also reached the finals in the 1m springboard and finished 5th whilst taking the same position in the finals of the 5m platform.

The youngster trains on a daily basis with Head Coach Ricardo Gutierrez at Corby International Pool and is one of the big prospects at the club. 

In January and February 2010 around 1000 local children took part in the ASA England Talent Programme Primary School Talent Search.

After various trials and tests around 20 children were selected to make up the Corby Diving Talent Squad.  Corby Steel Diving Club was officially formed in October 2010 to enable those children to become competitive divers.

The clubs first competition was the 2011 England Talent Identification Games in Southend while Gutierrez joined as Head Coach in March of the same year.
