Corby Sports Awards 17th October 2018


We are extremely proud to announce that Corby Steel Diving Club won Community Club of the Year at the Corby Sports Awards 2018!
At this year’s sports awards the Club was shortlisted for 3 awards:

Young Sportsperson of the year
“Amy has been diving for 4 years and has achieved a lot within her time at Corby Steel Diving Club. She is extremely hard working and passionate, she has now progressed to competing in competition, she is the only member at the club to compete at her level as well as being the only female to compete in diving in the East Midlands Region. She compete with much bigger, more advanced clubs and this is down to her hard work, commitment and determination. Throughout the last year she has received medals in many events up to National Level in big competitions meeting idols such as Tom Daley and Chris Mears. She has certainly put Corby Steel Diving Club on the map”

Coach of the Year
“Ricardo is committed to Corby Steel Diving Club 150%, this has been a greatly successful year for the club and Ricardo’s commitment and ability as a coach is credit to this. He always goes above and beyond his role within the club. Ricardo has helped the Corby Steel Diving Club achieve an accreditation “SwimMark” award and Development Centre status that only 8 clubs in the country have. His quality of coaching for the club is exemplary who always has the pupil’s best intentions at the forefront”

Community Club of the Year
“Corby Steel Diving Club are successful at National level competitions and are committed to bringing diving to the heart of Corby. Coaches and committee work extremely hard and regularly hold fundraising events to support the club. This year the club was awarded ‘Swim Mark Accreditation’ and ‘Diving Development Centre’ status – only 8 clubs in the country have this. The club have received multiple medals and top 10 positions in competitions around England. They have also took part in a start diving programme which has resulted in a large uptake for diving, the head coach also works within schools as part of the ‘Olympic Diving Talent Search’.”
